Ann Griffen, DDS, MS received her dental degree and her pediatric dentistry certificate from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston followed by a masters of science in molecular genetics from the Ohio State University. Dr. Griffen is a professor in the College of Dentistry. An accomplished researcher, Dr. Griffen is known for her work in the microbiology of periodontitis and dental caries using molecular approaches. Dr. Griffen is funded through the National Institutes of Dental and Craniofacial Research, and she has served on numerous NIH review panels. She mentors dental, masters, and doctoral students, and many of her pediatric dental resident master’s students have won national awards. She has published extensively and is sought after as a speaker on her work using advanced molecular genetic techniques. In addition, Dr. Griffen is board certified in pediatric dentistry and maintains an active clinical practice, and teaches both pediatric dental and oral microbiology courses at the College.
