John M. Nusstein, DDS, MS, is Director of the Advanced Endodontic Clinic at the Ohio State University College of Dentistry.

Dr. Nusstein received his BS in Biology from DePaul University in 1983 and his DDS degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry in 1987. He joined the Air Force after dental school and completed a GPR program at Scott AFB in 1988. From 1988-1993 he was a general dental officer, and while still in the Air Force, he began his endodontic training at The Ohio State University in 1993 and completed the program in 1995 earning both a certificate in endodontics and an MS for research involving intraosseous anesthesia. John left the Air Force in 1999 for private practice and in 2000 he became a full-time assistant professor at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in the Advanced Endodontics section where he also acts as graduate clinic director.

Dr. Nusstein became a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics in 1999. He is the endodontic representative and chairman of the Ohio Dental Association Specialty Council, secretary/treasurer of the Ohio Association of Endodontists and a member of the AAE Ethics and Peer Review committee. His primary research interests are in the areas of local anesthesia and pain control, ultrasonic instrumentation, and nickel-titanium instruments.
