Anthony D Villella, MD

Dr. Anthony D Villella received his MD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed a Pediatric residency at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio where he received the Resident Research Presentation Award in 2000. Dr. Villella also completed a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dr. Villella was an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics in the School of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. He also the directed the Sickle Cell Anemia Center and the Comprehensive Blood Conservation Program, both located at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, where he saw patients.

Dr. Villella has published articles and abstracts, presented at national meetings, and is a co-investigator on several NIH sponsored and industry sponsored research studies. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Society of Hematology. His areas of interest and expertise include sickle cell anemia, transfusion alternatives and childhood leukemia.
