Nicklaus Fogt, OD, PhD

Dr. Nicklaus Fogt graduated with the doctor of optometry (OD) degree from the Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1992. At the same time he was also awarded the Master of Science (MS) degree in Physiological Optics. In his MS thesis, Dr. Fogt studied spectacle adaptation.

Upon graduation, he studied for a year at the Cleveland Veterans Administration Medical Center as a resident in hospital-based optometry, receiving his residency certificate in June of 1993.

Following his residency, Dr. Fogt returned to the Ohio State University to pursue the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Physiological Optics. He completed the Ph.D. degree in June of 1996. His PhD dissertation focused on mechanisms of binocular vision. In July of 1996, Dr. Fogt became Assistant Professor of Optometry and Physiological Optics at the Ohio State University College of Optometry, and in 2002 he became an Associate Professor.

His current research is in the areas of eye and head tracking, binocular vision, nystagmus, and space perception.
