First mammogram02/21/2007 |
At what age should a woman consider getting her first mamogram?
The current recommendation is to get a first baseline mammogram at the age of 35. Subsequently the recommendation is to get annual mammograms from the age of 40. If one has a very strong family history, in particular if first- degree relatives (i.e. mother, sister) had breast cancer at a very young age, you may be advised to begin screening mammograms at an earlier age.
