Fractured root11/16/2007 |
I`ve had a root canal and crown on tooth #7, which is now causing pain. My dentist said I have a fractured root. What are my options?
If you are unsure about whether or not the root of the tooth is cracked, I would recommend an evaluation by a root canal specialist to confirm he diagnosis. Unfortunately, if the root is cracked, there is no treatment for the tooth. It will need to be taken out. Your options to replace the tooth will depend on a number of conditions, but in general they are; an implant, bridge or partial denture. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you which option is best because, again, it depends on the conditions of the remaining teeth.
