Mild sinus mucosal thickening
unenhanced ct of the paransal sinuses was performed ,and demonstrates mild sinus mucosal thickening of the ethmoid air cella and the maxillary sinuses bilaterally . there is occlusion of the right ostiomeatal complex due to sinus mucosal thickening . The left ostiomeatal complex appear clear . There is no evidence of acute sinusitis . what is the best way to treat ? will surgery be needed to clean and drain the sinuses.
If you are having problems with chronic or recurrent sinusitis than sinus surgery may be of benefit. If surgery is warranted, the maxillary and ethmoid sinuses would be the target of surgery. If the CT scan was performed for other reasons and you have no history of sinus difficulties than I would not worry about the CT findings.
